Sisters run for Stonepillow

Chloe's story....
I started working for Stonepillow in May 2025. At that time, I didn't really understand the complexities and challenges someone facing homelessness might experience, just knew I wanted to be part of the team helping those locally.

It was the day I spoke to Sarah, that started my journey of understanding. Sarah has given permission to share her experiences.

Sarah had fled domestic abuse. She was going to the Stonepillow Day Hub daily. She said, 'the team made me feel at home and not alone. Because I did feel very alone. I got beaten up on the street a lot. Before, I didn't eat. Now, I can have breakfast and lunch. I try to fill up as much as possible as those might be my only meals. Being able to go to the hub means I can wash, I can be presentable, which helps my mental health"

Stonepillow have dedicated houses for women who have experienced domestic abuse. They also have a dedicated womens only afternoon once a week at the Day Hub, where they can access services without feeling intimidated and join in with and art and wellbeing activities too.

As sisters we are running this half marathon for the women, like Sarah, who find themselves homeless and hope some of the funds raised will go towards supporting women.
