Incredible mission

Sisters with Blisters - SheUltra 50km Hike

Event date: 20th April 2024

Sally, Vanessa & Dee are raising money for The Active Pregnancy Foundation

Our story

Sister with Blisters

Hi, we're Sally, Vanessa & Dee and we're hiking 50km in a female-only ultra to raise money for The APF so they can continue to support pregnant and postnatal women. The route will take us through some of the most beautiful countryside in Wales. The Llyn Peninsular is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, but we're sure when we're 40km into our walk we won't be quite so excited about taking in the views!

About The APF

In 2020, an incredible group of passionate women, including 'Blister Sister' Sally, set up the Active Pregnancy Foundation, we wanted to tackle the health inequalities faced by women in the UK today, particularly around support and advice about being active during and after pregnancy.

We know that many women still don't receive advice or guidance and therefore miss out on the huge benefits an active pregnancy can have on physical and mental health. This can also have a long term impact on their health and wellbeing, as well as the health of their children. We want to change that, and so the APF was born!

The charity trains healthcare and fitness professionals, and provides evidence-based guidance to women and their partners. With approx. 600k pregnancies every year in the UK it's a huge mountain to climb, but we're ready to climb it!

Check out the charity and all the incredible work it does to improve the health of women and their families across the UK.

Our updates

WE DID IT!!!

I think it's fair to say our feet have lived up to our team name - we are blistered to the max, but we made it round the course and had a GREAT time. The last few miles were tough though - a combination of foot and knee pain definitely took it's toll on morale, but we dug deep, put one blistered foot in front of the other and crossed the line together.

We talked, we laughed, we grumbled, but all in all it couldn't have been a better day. The sun was shining, the sheep were bahhhhhhing and the support was magnificent.

Shout out to the volunteer marshals, organising team and the epic efforts of those who provided food and water at the check-in points.

BIG THANKS to everyone who has sponsored us, it's made every painful step worthwhile.

If anyone fancies doing it next year, please drop The APF a line - head to their website. Also, book your place ASAP - they sell out fast. Head here to do that.

Big Llŷn sized hugs to all.

That was a lovely one! Used Komoot to navigate and that work perfectly. Walked on my own too… bit anxious to start with but loved it out on the hills!
