SOHIM Raise The Church Roof Project

The funds are required to complete the roof for a church that is being built in Mansa, Zambia by Shadow of Heaven International Ministries (SOHIM

• sohim.org.uk). The church is located in a relatively poor area, but despite this the community have come together wonderfully to play their part in fund raising activities. Construction began in 2010 and progress has been slow.

In addition to being a place of worship, the building will home to the Centre of Liberty (COL).

The COL is an oasis of hope and empowerment that SOHIM uses to show the love of Jesus Christ in action, giving people hope of a better way of life, regardless of their religious beliefs, race, nationality, age, gender, or martial status.

COL projects for the African Flagship in Zambia include; Food for work scheme, women skills development programme, Enterprise development scheme, clean water and sanitation programme and nutritional centre for malnourished children.

The total roofing cost is £10,000 and to date £5600 has been raised both from this country and locally.

Picture taken at the start of 2017 shows the construction reaching to roof level. So desperate are the people to have a place to worship that they have erected a tent the in middle of the building to facilitate Sunday services.

I have decided to do a marathon ?only joking!! Well actually, it?s a 5km run at the Forest Recreation grounds in Nottingham on 25th November 2017 @ 9:00am. For me this is indeed a marathon, as for those who really know me my usual distance is 60-200m, with the occasional 400m. I hope to finish in less than 35 minutes. Who knows, it could be the start of my athletics career comeback!!
