Sam is running the St Albans half marathon for Emmaus Homeless Charity

Event date: 12th June 2016

Sam Pepper is raising money for Emmaus UK

My story

Hi everyone! I am running the St Albans half marathon for a charity I feel is very important and have a personal connection with.

In short, for a homeless person to get paid work they need a registered address. Of recent, the increasingly limited council housing situation throughout the UK creates a catch 22 situation. How can one get an address without a job and how can one get a job without an address?

Emmaus are a unique cooperative charity with several residential branches around the UK. They operate mostly as furniture shops which allow any homeless person - who is free of addiction - to live as a companion and work for the roof over their head within the shop. This is the first step to getting back on to road to mainstream living, as they have a registered address and can therefore apply for jobs elsewhere, while gaining working experience and self confidence.

Please don't feel pressured to donate, at the very least have a look at their website to raise awareness for this fantastic organisation -

Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Emmaus UK.
