My story
In April 2020, I was all set to mark a significant birthday by walking the 96 miles of the St Oswald’s Way. Arriving by train at Hexham a short bus journey would have taken me to Wall. I would then have set out from Heavenfield at one end of the walk arriving five days later at Lindisfarne.... but then came COVID!
Five years later, and after a roller-coaster of challenges, emotions and unexpected turns, I have recommitted myself to the walk and chosen Dementia Forward as the beneficiary. Myself and Dementia Forward have crossed paths in a number of ways over the years so I am delighted that I have this opportunity to give back.
I have set a modest target of £2,000, but would love to crash though this as we approach the start of the walk on the 19th of May.

To prepare for the challenge, I completed a 19-mile walk along the Knaresborough Round on bank holiday Monday.
My backpack, that has been waiting ready for service for 5 years, has finally got its test run.
