My story
This is a community festival that punches above its weight. 6th June 2009
It's yet another gala to add to the burgeoning cornucopia of ways to spend your summer days in Oxfordshire and even though it's tucked away on the border of God's county in a picturesque Cotswold village it has a enviable line-up.
Tristan and The Troubadours & Alex James
To be honest it is getting ridiculous ? You can't pop into an Oxfordshire village pub for a quiet pint this summer without finding Elton John or someone playing in the beer garden. Kingham's event started off three years ago as little more than a village fete but this year boasts Brit Award nominee Beverley Craven alongside one of the world's foremost tribute acts Abba Gold.
A five mile drive out from Chipping Norton and you're in amongst the fun. There is a local band showcase judged by Blur's Alex James. You'll have the chance to get your photo taken with James Bond's latest Aston Martin and there are fire-eaters, clowns, African drumming, pottery workshops, pony rides, face-painting and bouncy castles to make sure the whole family will be kept well entertained.
It all raises money for Kingham School, community music education and for CLIC Sargent, the UK's leading childhood cancer charity.
So if you have any spare lead left, pencil this one into your list of summer activities.
Who needs to go abroad when all the world's top performers are coming to Oxfordshire?
