Stepping into Wellbeing

Stacey Kemp is raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support and WWF-UK

My story

Stepping into Wellbeing are walking 1,800,000 steps in 28 days, this is an average of around 10,000 – 11,000 steps each per day.

Our team members are Claire Harman, Gerry Boland, Ciaran Greaves, Elizabeth Winch, Leanne Mason and Stacey Kemp.

This year the theme for the challenge is wellbeing and the benefits that walking each day can have for both your physical and mental health.

Funds raised from the Pedometer Challenge 2023 will be split equally between our charity partners Macmillan and WWF. Every £ we raise for our charity partners supports the important work they do. See below some examples of the impact your fundraising could have.

Macmillan

£60 could help run the Online Community forum for 3 hours. In this time, 300 people affected by cancer will give emotional and practical support to each other on anything to do with cancer – from treatments, coping with everyday life & the death of a loved one.

£105 could support the Energy Advice phone service for 1 hour. In this time, their team could deal with 4 calls or web enquires, providing advice on how people living with cancer can keep warm without the worry.

£417 could support the Macmillan Support Line phone service for 1 hour. In this time, they could deal with 25 calls and web enquiries from people who need practical or financial support.

WWF

£110 could pay for solar-powered “predator deterrent lights” to deter predators from livestock.

£300 could pay for a local research assistant for a month to help with their Lion projects.

£500 could pay for fire-fighting equipment to help combat forest fires which have devastated

Amur leopard habitat in the past, offering greater protection against dangerous climate change.
