Running for My Nan ❤️

I am raising money for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation in memory of my nan, who sadly passed away from lung cancer on 13 August 2019 — nearly 7 years ago.

My nan was only 59 when she suddenly passed away and, heartbreakingly, she never knew she had the illness. This is why raising awareness and supporting research into lung cancer means so much to me.

I chose to support the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation because they are the UK’s leading lung cancer charity. They support people and families affected by lung cancer, raise awareness of the disease, and fund research to help improve early diagnosis, treatments, and outcomes for the future.

I have never been a runner before. I started doing a little bit of running in January, and then I decided to take on the challenge of a half marathon. I officially started my half marathon training on 11 May, giving myself 16 weeks to prepare. I’m now on week 12 and have already run over 250km (155 miles) during my training.

I’ll be using my lungs to do something my nan sadly wasn’t able to do — run 21.1km in her memory.

Every step of this journey is for her. My fundraising target is £211 — £10 for every kilometre of my half marathon.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help support people affected by lung cancer and help fund vital work to improve the future for others.
