Stuart's Sahara Challenge

I am going to the Sahara to raise vital funds for the Hospice of St Francis, which  despite providing end-of-life care and comfort to thousands, receives only a fifth (20%) of its funding from the government.  It needs to raise at least £5m this year and every year.

The Hospice of St Francis is particularly dear to me because it's where my father - who had an aggressive throat cancer - was cared for beautifully 36 years ago.   He received vital pain control and and help to breathe in his final days, in the Hospice's tranquil surroundings.

The Saharan challenge involves walking 50km in three full days, in the sand dunes and gravelly terrain of the world's biggest desert.  Even in November it could be incredibly hot.  We will have no creature comforts (not even loos) and will be camping under the stars.  Every £ you give will spur me on and help me to finish!

I have chosen to fund ALL the costs of the trip myself, meaning that every £ in sponsorship will go to the Hospice, and will not be used to pay for my airfares, tent, or even the camels carrying some of our things.

I'm required to raise the the bulk of my sponsorship by August, so please don't delay!
