Swanage and Purbeck Development Trust Focus Cafe Appeal

Help us bring a new community café and garden to life in Swanage! ☕🌱 
 
Swanage and Purbeck Development Trust (SPDT) needs your support to open a brand new café for the local community at the Focus Centre – a wellbeing hub for Swanage and the surrounding villages. 
 
The Focus Café will offer so much more than just great coffee. It’ll be a warm, welcoming place to meet friends, make new connections, and find support, while also giving local organisations a space to share what they do. Even better, it will be run by Allsort’d CIC, a local social enterprise doing incredible work. 
 
We’re also creating a garden for visitors to the cafe– creating a friendly, wildlife-rich outdoor space where visitors, neighbours, and passers by can relax, chat, and enjoy being together. 
 
SPDT is a local community charity working to reduce poverty, ill health, and social isolation, and to improve access to jobs, arts, culture, and wellbeing services. Allsort’d, based right here in Swanage, supports adults with learning disabilities and autism by building skills, confidence, and independence through being actively involved in their community, supporting, volunteering, helping and collaboration 
 
The new café and garden will be places where everyone is welcome – helping to reduce loneliness, offering a gentle gateway to wellbeing services, and giving community groups a friendly place to meet. The cafe will also provide training and employment opportunities for people with learning disabilities, making a real difference to real lives. 
 
Families using Explorers Childcare and the Family Hub will have relaxed spaces to connect, and the café will help keep the Focus Centre sustainable for years to come.
