Rob Sefton - 24 Hour Charity Gamer

Event date: 2nd March 2013

Robert Sefton is raising money for OLD SWAN YOUTH CLUB

My story

On the 2nd March 2013 I will be undertaking a true test of stamina and will, taking my mind and body to the extreme, and all in the name of charity. But what is my challenge I hear you ask? A marathon? Triathlon? Of course not! On behalf of us here at the haven for retro video games, Sweet Shop Arcade, I will be playing Street Fighter II on Sega Mega Drive for 24 hours straight. No food, the bear minimum to drink, and no breaks, just 24 hours of one of the greatest video games ever made. Whether I will still feel the same about it afterwards though will probably be a different story.

WHY AM I DOING THIS?
I am raising funds for Old Swan Youth Club, a local charity run youth centre which in hard times is working with some of the most disadvantaged young people in Liverpool. The staff in the centre nearly witnessed the closure of the club a few years ago, they volunteer their time and do the work they do because they believe the centre needed to remain a pivotal part of the community, which to their credit, it clearly is. I will be undertaking the challenge on their premises from 7pm Saturday 2nd March, until 7pm Sunday 3rd. Just an empty gym, an old wooden cased TV, couch, lamp, Sega Mega Drive, my favoured character Ken Masters and me, oh and maybe you?

I NEED YOUR HELP!
There are many people who have well and truly been bitten by the retro gaming bug in recent years and I?m calling out to you to be a part of this momentous day for Sweet Shop Arcade and Old Swan Youth Club. All slots to play me (24 in total) are nearly full now but we are still looking for people to be involved in a number of other ways so drop me an email if you can.

DONATE
We need as many people to donate as possible so if you can't get involved and like what we are trying to do then please donate here!
