Team Hike to Get More Girls into Tech!

Our next team day is all about the future women in tech! We’re doing a hike to raise awareness and fundraiser for Girls Into Coding.

We’re part of the tech team at Virgin Media O2. We’re the Data Product Managers in Advanced Analytics & Data Science.

As a team we’ve talked a lot about the pipeline into tech. Everyone says we need more women in tech, and we absolutely do! Yet few focus on the pipeline, and that’s where we need to start doing better.

We’re getting started and hoping to raise money for an amazing team, that are putting on FREE workshops virtually and in person, for girls aged 10-14. This is accessible to girls from all backgrounds, and it’s fun! It’s hands on sessions, promoting technology and bringing all the excitement of problem solving with it.

I came across this wonderful team over the weekend whilst looking for a meaningful community to do some good for. It really is a unique team, and it’s actually founded and ran by a mother and daughter.

This Mum (Helene) and Daughter (Avye, now 15 years old and the founder of Girls Into Coding) are the driving force behind getting more girls into tech. They believe it's important to be able to continue providing these enriching opportunities at no cost to the attendees in order to include the most diverse range of girls.
