Team PDA 5th anniversary challenge

Team PDA are raising money for The PDA Society

Our story

To mark the PDA Society's 5th anniversary since becoming a registered charity (5th January 2021) and to help raise awareness and much-needed funds for the charity, Team PDA is doing various Couch to 5k and other 5-themed challenges. Team PDA is a group of trustees, volunteers and friends of the PDA Society ...

~ Vikki (PDA Society Vice-Chair & Comms Lead) is doing the Couch to 5k!

~ Paula (PDA Society Trustee & Enquiry Line/Events/Safeguarding Lead) is doing Couch to 5k walking her dog!

~ Hilary (PDA Society Trustee & Admin/HR/Training/Forum Lead) is using her exercise bike to reach 10k by doubling couch to 5k!

~ Katie (PDA Society Comms Assistant) is doing a Couch to 5k 'virtual' stair climb of famous buildings & landmarks at home!

~ Sally (PDA Society Chair & External Affairs/Research Lead) is training to do a 50k walk over 3 days!

~ Jilly (PDA Society Trustee & Education Lead) is doing 5 x 5 mile runs with 5 friends (individually) on 5 consecutive days starting on 25th Nov!

~ Emma (PDA Society Administrator) is doing 5 x 5 mile runs over 5 days with her dogs!

~ Steph (PDA Society Training Facilitator) is going to do 500k over 5 weeks on her exercise bike!

~ Julia (PDA Society Friend, Volunteer & PDA Adult Panel Member) is doing 5 minutes of line dancing over 5 days for 5 consecutive weeks!

~ Paul (PDA Society Friend & Contributor) will do a 5 mile walk each week for 5 consecutive weeks!

~ Leanne (PDA Society Volunteer) is doing 5 rounds of Interval Pilates over 5 consecutive days!

~ Debbie (PDA Society Enquiry Line Volunteer) is pledging to complete 5 x 5k socially distanced walks with 5 different family members and friends over 5 consecutive days from the 1st to the 5th December!

~ Miffy is going to cycle 50 miles on her new road bike!

~ Tigger is going to cycle 50 miles on his exercise bike at home!

We're all very out of our comfort zones with the challenges we've chosen but really wanted to come together (virtually) to mark the charity's anniversary, raise awareness and much-needed funds and support each other along the way!

We'll be sharing team member stories and updates here and on the PDA Society Instagram Stories throughout the challenge so please do check in from time to time to keep up with our progress.

Whether you're able to donate a little or a lot or simply share our fundraiser with others, THANK YOU! Every penny raised will help us to help others living and working with PDA.

Huge thanks to everyone who has donated and supported our 5th anniversary fundraiser - we're incredibly grateful to you all!

Well done to Hilary who has completed her 40th and final cycle with a total of 500km!

Vikki’s been held back in her quest by illness so will be picking back up on the challenge as soon as she’s fit again, aiming to do a park run when they’re operational again. Good luck Vikki and we hope you feel better soon!

Katie climbed 2 more virtual landmarks (St Paul’s Cathedral and Sydney Harbour Bridge) bringing her total steps climbed so far to 7,399, with 3 more weeks and 5 more landmarks to go.

Well done again to everyone who has completed a challenge and good luck to those still going!

Our 5th anniversary is tomorrow (5th Jan) and the team's been working hard on their challenges! Paula has completed her 5k walk (+1k more for good measure) over 3 days with Yuki the dog! Well done Paula! And there's lots more planned for the week ahead (and beyond in some cases)...

Many thanks to everyone who has donated so far and to Steph's Auntie Mrs D Livingstone who has made an offline donation of £50.

The team's been very busy over Christmas...

~ Hilary has cycled 440km to date and has 4 rides left to go!

~ Sally has completed her 3 day 50km walking challenge (plus a bit more)! Well done Sally!

~ Miffy cycled 30 miles of her challenge!

~ Vikki has continued to make progress with her couch to 5K challenge!

~ Katie climbed Tower of London, Big Ben & Warwick Castle and has done 5,011 steps so far!

~Emma did an extra run over Christmas!
