Going sailing and raising money for Charity

We are taking part in a week of offshore yacht racing. The crews are made up mainly of novice sailors. For many, this is their very first experience of sailing. Experienced amateur skippers lead each crew.

The longest race is the round-the-island race and usually lasts around 12 hours. The crews spend the week living aboard the boats in close quarters - woe betide crews with snorers aboard! Crews are self funded and share the costs of hiring the boats etc.

But it's not all fun! ;-) It's a great privilege to get the chance to take part in yacht racing. So, we want to give something back too through our charity fundraising. We are raising money for The Lifeboat Fund and the Severn Area Rescue Association. We have held bucket collections, run cake sales, maintain a tuck shops and plan to hold a pub quiz to raise money for these charities.
