Our story
Thanks for visiting Transport for Greater Manchester's (TfGM) fundraising page.
When making a donation, please add a comment to say which activity you're supporting, eg raffle, sponsoring someone for an activity, taking part in a fundraising event etc. It helps our treasurer keep track of how well we're doing. Thank you!
We're proud to be supporting Greater Manchester Blood Bikes and the Alzheimer's Society through both organisation-wide activity and events colleagues are participating in. Through this page you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to Greater Manchester Blood Bikes and the Alzheimer's Society.
Give As You Live will claim Gift Aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this - please ensure you give correct information about the nature of each donation when you make it, eg donations in exchange for a raffle ticket or the purchase of an item are not eligible for Gift Aid, but other donations are.
You can also choose to cover the transaction fees so they are not deducted from your donation - if you cover the fees, the charity receives your full amount. Some examples are given below of how your donation will be received, depending on which option you select:
Donate £10 + 80p fee, you pay £10.80 and the charity receives £10. Gift Aid £2.50
Donate £10 and don’t pay a fee, charity receives £9.20. Gift Aid £2.50
Donate £9.26 + 74p fee, you pay £10 and the charity receives £9.26. Gift Aid £2.32
From everyone here at TfGM, we'd like to say thank you, and let you know that we appreciate all your support for any donations.
Thank you for checking out our page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Greater Manchester Blood Bikes and Alzheimer's Society.

Ben Brisbourne, TfGM Transport Strategy
TfGM’s current corporate charities, GM Blood Bikes, and Alzheimer’s Society, are close to home for me. My mum was diagnosed with dementia following a decline during Covid. The change is sadly familiar, seemingly running in her side of the family. Meanwhile, I’ve been a regular blood donor for at least 5 years now, and every time, somebody has made use of it.
The 2024 Manchester Half Marathon is my warm-up to the 2025 Manchester Marathon. I’ve not ran anything more competitive than a parkrun before. I decided to do something challenging to keep my mind focussed, doing something positive with what time and ability I can free up.
Donations to these charities make a positive difference. It will also keep my inspiration going, when my mind and body are feeling the strain. Better yet, if you can, give donating blood, or some of your time, a go.
Keep an eye out for me ploughing down the Bridgewater canal during the evenings – if nothing else, I’ll have freed up a space on the transport network as I take the long way home from work!
If you’d like to sponsor me, please put BEN somewhere in the comments, so that our fundraising team can keep track of my donations. Thank you in advance for your support!

The one and only Mick Butler has thrown his hat in the ring to run the GM 10k.
Mick is the NPR/HS2 Strategic Development Team's only physically fit team member, so bless his cotton socks, he has had to put his money where his mouth is!
Please support him by donating some money to GM Blood Bikes and Alzheimer's Society.
When you donate, please add a comment which says "Mick Butler GM 10k" so we can keep track of how much he's raised.
Thank you!

TfGM’s Charity Football Tournament
Date – Friday 14th June 2024
Time – 5pm - 8pm
Location – Trinity Sports Centre, Cambridge St, Hulme, Manchester M15 6HP
Calling all football fanatics!
Some of you may know that your TfGM colleagues play football every Wednesday after work and there’s always lots of players wanting to play in the summer months particularly.
We have always wanted to hold an internal departmental football tournament for a while and this year, it’s finally happening!
If you enjoy a kickabout and would like to meet and have a laugh with TfGM colleagues you wouldn’t normally see socially – then now is your chance. You’ll also be helping to raise money for our two corporate charities, GM Blood Bikes and Alzheimer's Society.
We’re looking for football teams (6 players with up to 2 subs) from within your TfGM team/department. For larger departments, you may even have enough players for multiple squads! If you are not able to make up a squad of 6, please still register your interest as we will merge teams looking for additional players.
For those of you that want to take part but not play, we are also looking for volunteers to referee the matches! If this would interest you, please contact fundraising@tfgm.com.
The minimum donation to join in is £5. Of course, you don’t need to play or referee to donate – and we’d love for as many people as possible to come along and cheer on their colleagues!
We’ll be heading to The Old Abbey Taphouse nearby afterwards so you can drown your sorrows if you go out early or cheer your victories if you’re the winners. You’ll be playing for the glory of your department!
To register to take part, your chosen team captain should fill in the below form: forms.office.com/e/VWYn7WxWcM
We’ll be taking payment from each team nearer the time so we will update the team captains on how to do this. Feel free to donate and mention the football tournament in a comment so we can work out how much it's raised in total! Thank you!
