This October, I'll be taking on the Manchester Half Marathon to raise money for TfGM's chosen charities, Hollinwood Scout Camp and The Christie Charity.
Just over a year ago, I started my running journey with Couch to 5K. At the time, my motivation was simple: I wanted to be healthier, stronger and more present for my young daughter. More than anything, I wanted to be the kind of dad she could be proud of.
What started as a personal challenge has grown into something I genuinely enjoy. Since those first runs in August 2025, I've completed the Manchester 10K and my local Mossley 10K, steadily building up both my confidence and the miles. More recently, that has meant tackling the hills of Saddleworth as part of my training and preparing myself for the challenge of 13.1 miles.
I've covered the half marathon distance before, but this will be my first time taking part in a dedicated half marathon event, making it a milestone I'm really excited to take on.
The money raised will support two fantastic causes. Hollinwood Scout Camp provides life-changing opportunities for young people across Greater Manchester, while The Christie Charity funds world-leading cancer care, treatment and research that helps so many patients and families.
If you're able to support me, I'd be hugely grateful. Every donation, no matter the size, will help make a difference. Please put CHRIS P-N somewhere in the comments so our fundraising team can keep track of my efforts.
