My story

The Lord's Taverners have been wonderful supporters of The Final Word Cricket Podcast and we are determined to do our bit, back at the Edinburgh Half Marathon (and full 42km for some!), to raise as much money as we can for this brilliant cause.

Last year was a huge success, raising over £30,000 for the charity!

This time around, we're aiming to have 75 runners for the 75th birthday of the Tavs.

And here's why:

The Lord's Taverners work across the UK and beyond to provide inclusive and impactful cricket programmes, empowering young people with disabilities and from disadvantaged communities to develop the knowledge, skills, capabilities and confidence required to overcome the challenges of inequality, raise their aspirations and reach their potential. Here are just some of the highlights from 2024:

🎉 We reached over 28,000 young people facing the challenges of inequality through our cricket programmes.
🏏 Following engagement with our national cricket programmes:
🏃 97% of participants said they felt more active,
📈 88% felt more confident,
🤝 96% felt more included

🏫 We took cricket to 769 SEND settings (50% of all UK SEND settings),
🦸‍♀️ Our female Super 1s participation increased by 22%,
🙋‍♀️ 10 girls only Wicketz hubs were delivered to improve female engagement,
📍 The number of weekly Wicketz and Super 1s hubs increased by 24%,
📝 482 life skills workshops were delivered (including 65 focused on employability),
♻️ 31,100 items of cricket kit were donated to 8 countries

Imogen's story below is just one of many stories of how our programmes are changing lives.

My updates

A special shout out to Ursus for the kind donation of £3532 to get us over the £30k mark (inc gift aid).

A family affair. Holly, Anna and Cillian completed the junior races. Proud mum Claire.

The star of the weekend. Haylee completed all 4 races (Saturday 10k and 5k and Sunday Half and Full Marathons), in addition to London Marathon last month. The inspiration for our team.
