The FriendShip - Four Brothers Row the Atlantic

Event dates: 11th December 2022 – 31st March 2023

The FriendShip Atlantic is raising money for Friends Of Kiwoko Hospital, Drive Forward Foundation and Churches Housing Action Team (CHAT) - Mid Devon

My story

100% of donations will go straight to our chosen charities. 40% to the Drive Forward Foundation, 40% to Friends of Kiwoko and 20% to CHAT

Who are we?

We are the “Friend” brothers, two sets of twins only 18 months apart in age. Our aim is to become the first four brothers to row any ocean.
Growing up together in the green hills of Devon, adventure has come naturally, as has the competitive need to push each other further, faster and higher. Now older and following different career and personal paths, this challenge is our opportunity to restrengthen the bonds of brotherhood and raise money and awareness for causes close to our hearts.
In order to succeed, Jack, Hamish, Arthur and Euan will need to come together as a team to conquer the Atlantic Ocean and overcome the immense mental, physical and logistical challenge it will take to do so.

The Challenge:

Known as the 'world’s toughest row’, the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge is one of the most demanding endurance events on the planet. The challenge is a 3,000-mile unsupported rowing race across the Atlantic Ocean from La Gomera to Antigua, in which we will face sleep deprivation, salt sores, and physical extremes inflicted by the race.
We will row day and night, repeating shifts of two hours of rowing and two hours of eating, washing, navigating and sleeping until we reach the other side. The crossing will take between 30 to 50 days through 40-foot waves, shark-infested waters and busy shipping lanes.

Our Mission:

Our core motivation as we go through the inevitable highs and lows of this journey is the opportunity to raise money and awareness for these truly fantastic causes.
Each of our selected charities has close personal connections to us;
We have seen first hand the impact Drive Forward has on young care leavers through Jack’s work for the charity and through all of us looking to support their work in training as mentors
CHAT provides a vital service for those struggling with housing issues in Mid Devon, the local community in which we all grew up. They provide much needed first-line support and advice to keep people at risk in their accommodation or help them back into homes. CHAT also offer debt and money advice and run a foodbank
We have all personally witnessed the incredible work that Kiwoko Hospital carry out. Kiwoko manages to stretch funds and resources to the furthest possible lengths in treating the poorest communities in the Luwero region of central Uganda
There is no doubt in our minds that every penny raised for these fantastic charities will help make a real difference.

Join Us:

Any donation, big or small, will push us one step closer to achieving our mission and will enable us to dig deeper when the going gets tough, and it will get tough!
