The Road to Mandalay

Kenneth Cramond is raising money for International Rescue Corps (Scotland)

My story

Challenge Complete! This time I was part of a team who cycled The Road to Mandalay in Myanmar (Burma). This cycle took around five days during which time we covered around 250 miles. Some roads were good, other not so much! (See social media!) It was generally drier than the UK even if the roads are often no better. The temperatures were the real challenge!
We were cycling in temperature highs of 39c! We had some people with early stages of heat exhaustion! I survived but sweated buckets!
So apart from visiting a lovely country and putting me through the mill what was it about?
I am supporting International Rescue Corps. This is a UK charity in which I am a volunteer operational member. The charity totally relies on donations as it is not tied to any political or government organisation. It specialises in search and rescue work both in the UK and overseas. It is probably best known for work in Earthquake areas abroad. It has been increasingly involved in flood rescue in the UK. The picture shown was taken by a team member of me on the Road to Mandalay on one of the many untarmaced roads. Please support this challenge in this country that is just opening its doors to visitors again. [I will be posting pictures etc. on Facebook in due course]. I paid all my own expenses, flights etc., so all donations go to the charity.
