The Stinky Fish Challenge - the world's smelliest fish

Event date: 21st May 2022

James Titterinton is raising money for Cumbria Addictions: Advice and Solutions

My story

Hi, I'm James, the owner of JT Construction, on the 21st May I'll be taking part in The Stinky Fish Challenge, to help raise money for CADAS, a countywide drug and alcohol support service.

The challenge involves eating surströmming, the world's smelliest fish, but it's putrid, strong rotten egg smell will more than likely make me sick as soon as I open the can!

Surströmming, is a lightly salted fermented Baltic Sea herring, which has been a traditional Swedish cuisine since the 16th century. During the production of surströmming, just enough salt is used to prevent the raw herring from rotting while allowing it to ferment. So wish me luck!

The aim is to raise a minimum of £2,000 before I’ll even attempt the stinky fish challenge, so get your donations in if you want to see me step up to the plate. The challenge will take place on Saturday 21st May 2022 at 3pm, at The Duke of Cumberland, so come and along and show your support, if you're brave enough!

T&C’s - A minimum of £2,000 to be raised before challenge will take place. If I'm unable to eat the Surströmming no refunds will be made.
