Hi,

My name is Martin, and in 2015 I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. After experiencing severe pain for months I end, I went through test after test which all showed clear. I trialled multiple medications, and there was no success.

I became a part of More Than Fibro when it was founded during Covid, and from there I have helped multiple people with the condition access relevant support, and assisted with benefit applications and appeals.

More than fibro offers various services to members, including support groups, virtual coffeechats, walking groups, awareness stalls, advocacy and alternative therapies such as reiki. We are based out of Coatbridge in Scotland, but we have members all across the UK.

Fibromyalgia Syndrome is an umbrella term used to describe multiple symptoms. There is in excess of 200 symptoms an individual can experience from having Fibromyalgia. The main 3 are Chronic Pain, Chronic Fatigue and Cognitive Impairment. From there people can have common conditions alongside this such as IBS, Depression and Sensory difficulties.

To date, there is no cure, effective treatment or even a test for this condition. It can leave many people bed bound, or having to give up careers due to how severe the pain can become.

We are walking Tinto to help raise funds for More Than Fibro SCIO and to raise awareness for the condition
