Event dates: 13th June 2024 – 14th June 2024

Team TdV are raising money for Odyssians and National Literacy Trust

Our story

A team of us at The Very Group will cycle from our head office in Speke to our fulfilment centre in the East Midlands...and back again! This will cover a distance of around 200 miles and pass through the Peak District so there is plenty of vertical distance to battle through too.

We'll be doing this in support of the National Literacy Trust and Odyssians.

National Literacy TrustOne person in six in the UK today has poor literacy. This means they can't succeed at school, are locked out of the job market, can't support their child's learning and struggle with daily tasks such as filling in forms or reading labels on food packaging.

The National Literacy Trust empowers people with the literacy skills they need to succeed in life, helping them change their stories.

Odyssians - The name Odysseus is synonymous with adventure. It is this spirit captured for over 25 years with Odyssians. For 1 week each summer, we host adventurous activities for disabled adults. Laser tag, petting zoos, discos, swimming - these are some of the great activities volunteers enable for an incredible group of people - each with their own specific physical or psychological needs.

Since the recent pandemic and rising cost of living, sufficient funding for activities has been much harder to achieve, which is where donations make the difference. With £250, Odyssians could sponsor a volunteer to support the camp for the week, whereas £1000 could provide funding for all campers and volunteers to visit a local attraction - an opportunity many would often not have access to in their day to day lives.

Thank you for checking out our page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Odyssians and National Literacy Trust.
