LEICESTER VOLUNTEER PR MAN SET FOR AMBITIOUS CHARITY TRAVEL PLAN FOR BAND AID 40
Leicester Publicist and Fundraiser, Ayaz Sheikh, 53, of SSCOM GROUP (a voluntary PR/Media Agency) of which he established in March 1998, solely with his money, continuously funded it himself ever since says he is now planning to undertake a charity travel and endurance challenge starting on the day (40 years on) when “Do They Know It’s Christmas” by “Band Aid”, became the UK’s official number 1 single and revealed by BBC Radio 1, exclusively, on Tuesday 11th December, 1984.
Ayaz said: “Finally, I get to reveal this mammoth task, of which I’ve been preparing for last weekend for a good cause, 40 years on. I can recall the original Band Aid campaign, coming out of nowhere in winter 1984, and then becoming number 1, here in the UK, just falling short in remaining there on my 14th birthday (January 1985)”.
“I am tasked in a travel adventure with limited funds, somewhere in Europe, all will be revealed, upon my return back – I won’t have access to social media where I’ll be – just like 1984”, he added.
A spokeswoman from SSCOM GROUP said that this is part of an unprecedented 3 month “sabbatical” whilst Ayaz helps to “reset” towards 2025, and looking to return back to his educational career on another permanent basis, post Valentines Day but that in the meantime, a chance to go back to late 1984/early 1985, and hopefully, raise vital funds to contribute to the Band Aid Trust.
