Chaz takes Grade 5 Trumpet in 28 Days!

Like all great ideas, this one was formed in a pub after an excellent big band rehearsal.

I have entered myself for a ABRSM grade 5 trumpet exam this spring term and will have just 1 month to prepare. A kind Dr Jan Marchant will be supplying me with an instrument to use.

As many of you know, I am a woodwind guy and have this is a mammoth task to aim for. I have NO experience playing any brass instruments of any sorts, with the only exception being in the break of a few rehearsals (over the past 10 years) demonstrating how inept I am at doing so on friends instruments.

The charity is one that helped pay for my clarinets when I was 15 which I especially need when I got my place at RCM in 2007. I think this would be the perfect challenge for a worthy cause that I would love many others to benefit from as I did.

Be as generous as you can, I plan to make a practice video once and week to encourage.
