My story

Unity is Strength is a UK-registered charity that was set up in 2020 to support St Paul KAASO Primary School in Uganda.

St Paul KAASO was started by Dominic and Rose Mukwaya in 1999 when they opened their home as a school to orphans affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Since 1999, KAASO has grown massively and now has around 600 students. I first visited KAASO in 2011 and have since returned on a number of occasions to support various projects. In 2016, we were fortunate enough to be able to organise for Dominic and Rose to visit the UK! We have forged an incredibly special relationship over the past 10 years and are now really pleased to be able to support KAASO through a UK-registered charity, especially at this very difficult time that we're all living through.

Donations will go towards the running costs at KAASO, such as food, classroom & boarding materials, COVID-19 supplies and teacher salaries. We are incredibly grateful for any donations we receive and we can't wait to see where the next 10 years with KAASO take us!

Next weekend, we will be doing the Captain Tom 100 Challenge for Unity is Strength. We are going to do 100 skips using a large skipping rope, as beautifully demonstrated by Jackie in the photo at the top of the page. Please feel free to join in and share your photos! :)
