Vision Express Cycle from Lisburn to Lowestoft
Event dates: 4th October 2022 – 31st October 2022
phil hyde is raising money for Childhood Eye Cancer Trust and MACULAR SOCIETY
My story
My challenge - to virtually cycle the distance between the two furthest apart stores in my region. A total of 446 road/ track miles from Lisburn (Northern Ireland) in the west, to Lowestoft (Suffolk) in the east which I will complete throughout October.
It's the furthest I will have ever cycled in a month! The distance will be covered partly on the road (at weekends) but mainly on my trusty Turbo trainer, working around my work schedule.
Your donations will be supporting the great work of the Macular Society and also the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust.
Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Childhood Eye Cancer Trust and MACULAR SOCIETY.

ALL COMPLETED!!! I've cycled from the most westerly Vision Express in my region (Lisburn) to the most easternly (Lowestoft).
453 miles and 7799 feet of climbing. The actual route would have been 446 miles and 7470 feet of climbing. Overall it's taken 28 hours and 54 minutes. I managed 104 miles on roads/ trails and the remainder on the turbo trainer.
Thank you so much for your kind donations and messages of encouragement. I am proud to have raised funding for the Macular Society and Childhood Eye Cancer Trust.

Friday - another 20 miles on the Turbo trainer today and only 11 miles to go, which I will complete over the next couple of days. Thank you so much to all those who have donated so far to these two brilliant charities.

Wednesday - Nearly there. After a day's mountain biking in the Welsh forest with my 10 year old son, we added another 10 miles in the rain and mud - brilliant fun! 415 miles down and 31 to go.

Coming in to the last week of the challenge. I've completed 404.84 miles and have just 42 to complete this week. Some of it will be on a mountain bike in the Welsh mountains with my 10 year old - for a real change of scenery, but it all counts! It was great to get out on the road again over the weekend, avoiding the rain but navigating round the puddles. Thank you so much to all those who have donated so far to these wonderful charities.

19th October - So far I’ve cycled 322.61 miles this month, with 124 still to go over the next week or so. Most of it has been done on the turbo trainer, as it’s a bit dangerous in the dark at 5am or when I've finished work after 7pm! Hopefully I can get a few miles in daylight next week though when I've got a few days off.
Thank you to all those who have kindly donated to these two fantastic charities. And for those who still wish to donate, please see the link attached. Your support means a lot and it's very much appreciated.
I'm off to buy some more chamois cream!
Phil.
