My story

Hi, you may know that I love a walk and that I love Spain.

In March I will be joining a group to walk along the Camino Portugues from Vigo to Santiago de Compostella.

This is a walk with a purpose – to raise awareness of local people experiencing homelessness and to raise funds for two charities based at Sheffield Cathedral. The Archer Project provides practical support, health care and routes into employment. The Choir With No Name provides opportunities to make music, perform and build friendships.

My updates

Good Evening Thrill Seekers,

Sadly yesterday morning's walk was abandoned without a step being taken. It was properly snowing first thing.

Today's practice was a lovely 6 mile walk around the Damflask and Agden Reservoirs. The route was therefore a bit flat, but made more interesting by the not infrequent squalls.

The action photograph is looking back south west across Damflask at the next squall.

And thanks again to all of you you have sponsored me, you are very generous.

Good Evening Thrillseekers,

Another couple of exciting days of training.

Yesterday a couple of miles near home and this morning the first of my longer morning walks.

Today I walked from Psalter Lane to the Norfolk Arms, just over 4.5 miles up the Porter Valley. Bloomin wet and some nice snow in with the rain. The excellent orange apparel kept me dry.

And a photograph of Sheffield from just by the Alpaca farm.

As promised, below is an action shot of me walking in the rain. Please note the excellent new orange waterproof apparel. Rather natty don't you think?

The "go faster" emblems haven't improved my speed, but at least you can see me from quite a distance away.

The training schedule is happening.

Hoorah, The exercises worked. Here I am on Saturday 24th January with some of our group just preparing to start the 15m Sheffield Round Walk. Please note my excellent new orange waterproof.

Ugh, I had a back problem happen on Tuesday morning ( I was just standing up from a sitting position, how on earth can that cause such a problem?). Anyway after some rest, hot water bottle, Ibuprofen, and frozen peas (but not at the same time), and gentle exercise on Tuesday and Wednesday, I decided to try a walk on Thursday (yesterday). 4.6 miles later all was still well and quite a good pace too. And today, all good. Another PT (gym) routine without a problem. Hooray (thought you would like to know how I was getting on) :D
