Wild Atlantic Way Cycle Ride - Mizen Head to Malen Head

On Friday 17th July 26 I will be embarking on a mammoth charity cycle ride that is 570 miles long (approx.) up the West coast of Ireland. The ride is from the southern most tip of Ireland to the Northern most tip taking in the stunning scenery all the way up the Wild Atlantic way.
The BICA team consists of over 50 people  - of all ages and abilities working together to raise much needed funds for a variety of local charities which are:

Maeve Fanning Cancer Treatment
Birmingham Children's Hospital Cystic Fibrosis Unit
Reynolds Cross Special School 
University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire Teenage Mental Health
Cancer fund for Children, of Ireland
Enterprise Sailing Trust 

This route is very special for many of us, personally, having grown up in Galway I have very fond memories of holidays and many visits to various places along the West Coast as a child. Midway through the cycle we traverse up and over the Tourmekeady Mountains which is where my Grandfather was from and though it will be a physically tough day - having to cover 115 miles, it will be a very rewarding and special day.
I am looking forward to this challenge whilst trying to raise as much money as possible for the aforementioned charities, BICA has raised over 1.3 Million in just over 25 years for various local charities and its crucial to these organisations for the funding to continue.
A lot of these charities are close to our hearts, which will make each turn of the pedal more bearable as the miles wear us down, and with the amount of cyclists we have recruited this year we are hoping to break the 1.5 million target.
Every donation no matter how big or small counts, and it is all greatly appreciated -  and that is what will keep me going as the miles roll on and the fatigue sets in, just knowing that each mile covered is a step toward reaching the finish line and getting the much needed funding through to the projects that need them.

And yes, at the finish line - mines a Guinness!!
