Well, I only went and did it!!!! In the water for 8hrs 30mins (floating for refuelling and ferry avoidance!), and was swimming for 7hrs 15mins. I mainly thought about food, and what combination of Soreen, NAKD bars, mars bars, jelly babies and gels I would consume next!
Really really chuffed with the swim - we kept mainly to the left hand side of Windermere, "scooting" between little islands after the Hawkshead ferry was probably my favourite part. Thought we might see some otters and white headed eagles as it felt similar to Alaska! The wind was a bit of a pain, coming from all directions at different points, with some pretty big waves when combined with the boat traffic, but wasn't an issue, given the conditions I usually swim in!
Definitely keeping a positive mindset helped - the 1km before halfway was the toughest mentally, after that I managed to be really positive about having already done the hard part!
Finishing at the end with the full support crew including John, Quinn and Paddy (the crazy spaniel) was awesome - and reading messages from my friends reduced me to an emotional mess as well as a tired mess!
A HUGE HUGE HUGE thanks to the safety boaters (I would have been run over without you guys!)
And a HUGE HUGE HUGE thanks to everyone who donated or gave me good wishes - am so proud to have been able to help these 2 charities. Mum was certainly with me the whole way :)
