Wombles Walk Fundraising Event

Event date: 30th April 2022

Frances Holohan is raising money for AFC Wimbledon Foundation

My story

Hello,

I'm walking 20km on 30 April to raise funds for AFC Wimbledon Foundation because of the life changing work they do and to celebrate the 20 year Anniversary of AFC Wimbledon.

Starting on Wimbledon Common, where AFC Wimbledon held football trials 20 years, I will be walking 20km around the streets and parks of Merton ending up back at Plough Lane, so please give generously...

  • AFC Wimbledon Foundation uses the power of sport to reach those I our community who desperately need help.

  • Their coaches give young people new skills and show them what a brighter future could look like.

  • They help those who are unemployed discover new pathways into work.

  • They create opportunities for people struggling with their mental health to find support and they help older adults to keep active and tack loneliness.

AFC Wimbledon Foundation needs more funding to help people like A:

'A lives in supported living. A has no social life...the sessions at AFC not only benefit him in terms of spending time with his peers, but house staff have informed me that his mental health has improved dramatically since doing so. He had a lot of pent-up anger and frustration before. The exercise and opportunity to play football has helped him to deal with this.'
Thank you so much.

Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto AFC Wimbledon Foundation.

Hi Frances

Congratulations and thank you so much for completing the Wombles Walk… back to Plough Lane.

It was such a lovely, sunny morning full of positive energy.

I am so pleased so say that including ticket sales, sponsorship donations and gift aid we have raised £14,064 – an incredible effort. We would love to get to our target of £20,000 and so please keep asking those who have not yet sponsored you to support your challenge and our local cause.

If every one of our walkers raised another £100 we would raise the £6,000 needed and hit the target!

Why not send everyone you know a photo of your medal and tell them you did it. Also, some of you have managed to get your employers to match the amount you have raised… why not ask at work to see if you can do this too? I will send the final total raised in a few weeks’ time.

Thanks so much again… you really made it such an inspirational and uplifting event.

All the very best and enjoy the bank holiday

Paul
