My story

In the words of my much loved and missed dad, I am going to “knock hell out of my body” by running the Yorkshire marathon on October 19th. I am running to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and Sunshine and Smiles.
During dad’s difficult battle with cancer, Macmillan provided support and kindness that made a huge difference.
Sunshine and Smiles provide a support network in Leeds for children and young people who have Down syndrome and their families. They have provided great support to my nephew and family. They aim to improve the lives and opportunities for children and young people with Down syndrome.
They offer speech and language therapy, regular groups and activities, individual support and advocacy for families, as well as raising awareness and challenging preconceptions in the wider community.
