It takes just a few steps to create your page supporting Clear Community.
CLEAR offers a community-led approach to tackling plastic and other waste pollution in Indonesia. We facilitate direct action on protection of the environment and prudent use of resources using ideas generated locally.
We encourage local people to develop replicable solutions to environmental challenges. Most of our activities involve voluntary action and by focusing on low-cost high-impact measures we are achieving significant shifts in public awareness and behaviour with minimum resources: a deliberate strategy to make sure CLEAR initiatives can be replicated in any community.
CLEAR's current key objective is to promote the development of an effective and sustainable community-based waste management infrastructure in Indonesia. This includes the longer-term aim of significantly reducing and eventually eliminating the amount of plastic waste entering the oceans around Indonesia.
Event dates: Monday 1st November – Tuesday 30th November
Support CLEAR's Waste Warrior Project in Java empowering villagers, particularly women, to set up waste banks and stop plastic pollution in the seas and on land.
Join us! - and raise funds by Running, Cycling and/or Walking throughout the month of November 2021. Create your own page by clicking the 'Start Fundraising' button on the right.
Ask your friends and family to sponsor you for every mile or kilometre. Give sponsors an idea of the total miles or km. you expect to achieve over the month so they can gauge how much to offer per mile or km., or can donate a single sum if they prefer. Link your page to the STRAVA app to record progress and use STRAVA and social media to share your Work-Out and ask others to share too. Provide updates from your page to your followers. Help us to raise funds for this vital environmental project.
CLEAR is rolling out a programme with villages in Java to create teams of Waste Warriors who will take a lead on sustainable waste practices and managing waste banks. Mentors from CLEAR deliver programmes of workshops and training giving women the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to become Waste Warriors. The funds raised by this Work-Out event will help us to pay for the Trainers and Mentors.
We have collaborated successfully with the PKK, a women’s group promoting health initiatives and village development in 66,000 villages across Indonesia. Working with their existing structures we can ensure long-term, far-reaching impacts. Women lead on household management, are motivated about their family’s health, and in an excellent position to drive changes.
CLEAR adopts a grass-roots approach as we believe that empowering local people to drive change and apply their own ideas for waste solutions is far more effective than foreigners or non-locals telling villagers how to manage their problems.
