Description:
Beacon Counselling exists to improve the lives of people experiencing mental and emotional distress. This means people who are dealing with depression, bereavement, anxiety, and relationship difficulties, to name just a few challenges. These are the issues that millions of us face at some point in our lives, and that 17 million people in the UK struggle with each year. Beacon also has specialised services supporting people who have experienced sexual abuse, domestic violence, and young people looked after by the state.
Beacon is a leading provider of face-to-face therapy services in Greater Manchester and beyond. In 2017, Beacon supported over 2,000 adults, young people and children, reducing levels of depression and anxiety, raising levels of confidence and self-esteem, and building people?s resilience so they can deal with future challenges.
We offered 15,000 counselling sessions in 2017 through a team of over 50 skilful counsellors. This volume of work is matched by a dedication and commitment to quality; all counselling work is rigorously supervised by a team of casework supervisors working to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy?s (BACP?s) Ethical Framework. Counselling is continually monitored and evaluated to ensure that we understand the benefits and impact of our work.
Beacon is a dynamic and thoughtful organisation responding to the needs of our communities. In recent years we created innovative services to help tackle problems including Child Sexual Exploitation, suicide prevention, young adults leaving the care system.
Beacon has been recognised several for the excellence of its work through national awards, including the GlaxoSmithKline IMPACT Award, the Queen?s Award for Voluntary Service, and the Winifred Tumim Award.
In summary, Beacon Counselling is an effective and innovative charity with a track record of delivering high quality services that are evidence based, effective, and targeted at the greatest need.
