20th & 23rd Southgate Scouts are raising money for All People All Places

20th/23rd Southgate Scouts Cardboard Box Sleepout 2021

Event date: 4th December 2021

Our story

All People All Places (APAP) is a registered charity, established in 2010. It was set up to provide accommodation and support to people facing homelessness in the London Boroughs of Haringey and Enfield. APAP is a Christian charity, but work with people of all faiths and of no faith.

APAP’s central aim is to break cycles of poverty and homelessness. The charity provides emergency accommodation alongside casework to support people into longer-term accommodation, as well as addressing wider issues such as accessing help with benefits, mental and physical health, drug/alcohol issues, debt, and employment.

20th and 23rd Southgate Scouts are raising money for this charity by holding a sponsored cardboard box sleepout. Scouts will make cardboard shelters, go to the soup kitchen and sleep out in boxes.

Our updates

Despite the wind, rain and cold, 12 scouts survived the night in their cardboard boxes although I doubt the dwellings would have survived another night! An eye-opening experience for all involved.

Once again thank you for your donations, we have been completely blown away by your kind generosity in supporting All People All Places and this activity.

And Scouts, you should be really proud of your accomplishment - you have changed lives.

We will provide a further update once we have a final total including the donations collected by paper form, which are substantial, and could bring us close to the £2,500 mark!

Thank you from the Scouts & Leaders at the 20th and 23rd Southgate Scout troops.

Absolutely fantastic contributions - thank you everybody for your continuing support.

Good luck Scouts this evening, it's going to be cold and damp but tonight you will be with your friends and the family of Scouts. Take some time to reflect on those who find themselves in difficult situations, but do take comfort in that your efforts will make a difference.

The final target that we have now set is £1,750 - let's see if we can hit it !!!

Due to the astonishing response we have increased the on-line target to £1,500.

Thank you very much for supporting this activity and All People All Places.

Awesome, we have made our on-line target !!! Thank you so much for your generosity and inspiring words of encouragement - this means so much to the Scouts and All People All Places.

If this is your first time visiting this fund-raising page don't worry we're still collecting even though we have reached the on-line target - every penny counts !
