Racing a Half Marathon for Scouts & WheelPower

Dave Cook is raising money for Ashton Central Scout Group and WheelPower

My story

I’m raising money for Ashton Central Scout Group and WheelPower by completing a half marathon in my racing wheelchair.
Scouts gives young people amazing opportunities to learn new skills, gain confidence, and experience adventure. The money raised will help Ashton Central Scout Group buy equipment, subsidise activities, and keep scouting affordable for local young people.
I’m also supporting WheelPower, a charity that provides opportunities for disabled people to take part in sport and physical activity, including wheelchair racing – which is what has made this challenge possible for me.
This will be a big challenge for me, but every mile I push will be to raise money for these two brilliant causes.
All money raised will be split 70/30 between Ashton Central Scout Group and WheelPower.
Any donation, big or small, would mean a huge amount and will help make a real difference.
Thank you for your support!

My updates

After an amazing few days away at County Rally 2026 with my Scouts, my body is definitely asking for a little recovery time before I get back into training for the big event in September!
The camp was very well organised by a very dedicated team of volunteers. My weekend was full of long days, teamwork, activities, loads of exited kids and very little rest — so for the next few days I’ll be focusing on recovery, recharging, and getting ready to resume training properly.
Thank you again to everyone supporting me on this journey. Your encouragement and sponsorship genuinely help keep me motivated through both the hard training days and the recovery days too. September is getting closer!
