Event dates: 8th December 2023 – 15th December 2023

Rosa, Colette, Laura, Liz, Melanie, Sanja, Siobhan and Vassi are raising money for LYR and Surviving Economic Abuse

Our story

We are taking part in Race The Thames Virtual 2023!

From the 8th - 15th December, as a team, we will be walking, running, cycling, swimming or rowing 346km (the length of the River Thames, from source to sea!) to raise money for two great charities, Surviving Economic Abuse (SEA) and LYR.

SEA is an inspiring charity that aims to ensure all women and girls can live their lives free of abuse and exploitation. SEA raises awareness of economic abuse and transforms responses to it. Last year, SEA reached over 58,000 survivors through its website, survivor forum and frontline partnerships and trained nearly 1,000 professionals to spot the signs of economic abuse, helping more women escape an abusive partner and safely rebuild their lives.

LYR is a ground-breaking sports charity that aims to develop young people through physical activity and open access to rowing at all levels. Last year, they supported over 5,500 young people to experience the benefits of rowing and develop new skills. LYR work with over 100 state schools from the most disadvantaged areas of London, Leeds, Nottingham and Kent.

We are a team of women with a shared passion for learning to row. We are delighted to combine this passion with fundraising for SEA to end economic abuse forever. All funds raised will be split equally between the two charities.

Please do support us in our virtual journey 346km along the Thames. Any donation gratefully received!

Content warning: The powerful video below illustrates why SEA's life-changing work is so needed. The video discusses abuse and features drowning imagery.
