Jack's Jive: Dancing Against Homelessness

Many of us are incredibly fortunate and never have to experience a night without a roof over our head. Unfortunately, that is not the case for everyone.

On 30th November 2024 I will be lacing my dancing shoes up and channeling my inner Patrick Swayze in front of over 400 people to help raise money for Shelter to support their incredible work in housing and homelessness.

In winter of 2023, research in the UK shows that at least 309,000 people spent Christmas without a home. This number accounts for almost 140,000 children, which is a staggering 14% increase in just a single year. I personally have never had to even comprehend the idea of being homeless, especially not in my childhood. The situation in the UK is a crisis and it will only continue to worsen without the work of organisations like Shelter.

Those who know me will be aware that getting up and dancing ballroom in front of over 400 people is not exactly my area of expertise. It is a far cry from running around a muddy field with a football at my feet but I am hoping them twinkle toes might come in handy. What I do have is at least 309,000 reasons to put myself out of my comfort zone and give it my best effort.
