My story

This isn't really about myself but more the fact that there is a charity that many people haven't heard of and also not aware of the condition that is affecting so many babies, children and adults out there. The one family that this has really affected are a family that I will do whatever I can for, any time of day as they mean a lot to me.

Simon and Karen Talbot had a lovely baby boy which I unfortunately never had the pleasure of meeting but he has touched so many people over the years despite being a very special butterfly angel. Dylan was born he was rushed off to the Special Care Baby Unit and Simon and Karen were told that he had Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) which meant that they couldn't actually hold their baby boy as it could cause his skin to blister. Having know them both for many many years, I know that this was the most difficult thing ever for them! Unfortunately Dylan was diagnosed with the most severed form (Junctional EB) and was only given a few months to live.

There are 4 forms of EB and more details of each of these can be found on the DEBRA website (https://www.debra.org.uk/Pages/Category/support-about-eb).

The forms are:

EB Simplex (EBS)

Dystrophic EB (DEB)

Junctional EB (JEB)

Kindler (KEB)

DEBRA was there through everything for Simon and Karen and they will continue to be there for anyone out there that has to go through what they have had to go through. Every charity needs funds to help support the families out there to make as many memories as possible for the babies that do not make it to being a toddler.

So please can you help in any way you possibly can to continue to raise money for DEBRA to help the families going through the process and also to help with research in trying to find a cure for EB. We are all here because someone has helped get us to where we are today so a little but of help from you all to this awesome charity would mean the world to another family.

I'm therefore going to take part in the 2023 London Marathon to raise money and raise awareness.
