My story

Mersey Rowing Club Junior Squad are taking part in Race the Thames 2023, a Virtual Row using rowing machines amongst other methods to complete an equivalent distance to the River Thames 72kms. Rowing has the power the change people’s lives and we believe that everyone is capable of achieving their potential given the right opportunity.

London Youth Rowing are a youth charity that motivates, inspires, and empowers young people from disadvantaged communities through the life skills gained from Rowing, Active Row is uniquely placed to enable those who sit on the sidelines at PE to get active, find positive social groups and develop essential life skills that rowing nurtures. Their aim is the help students break through glass ceilings and achieve their potential through developing their life skills and demonstrating how valuable they are.

Love Rowing (British Rowing Charitable Trust)'s mission is to challenge and change the face of rowing. They create accessible and inclusive rowing programmes for communities’ that are currently underrepresented in the sport, showing the life-changing impact rowing can have. They have recently supported Mersey Rowing Club with a generous grant towards funding the training of new coaches to support MRC's youth rowing project "Let's Row Liverpool". The hope is that through the continued support of Love Rowing, MRC will in future recieve further assistance to fund new junior-specific oars for the expanding squad.
