Race the Thames is the flagship fundraising event for LYR, a charity that opens up the sport of rowing for young people to help them fulfill their potential.

The Shaped By team will be collectively covering the distance of the River Thames (346km) over a week. For this fundraising we'll be supporting LYT and Children's Hospice South West with an even split of donations going to each. Here's a bit of info on everyone:

LYR
London Youth Rowing runs and supports a number of youth programmes. Their flagship programme Active Row focuses on engaging young people who are less likely to participate in physical activity such as those from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds, girls and individuals with special educational needs or a disability. Active Row works within 60+ state secondary schools across London and has recently branched into Leeds, and will be in Bristol in 2024.

Our Life Skills programme uses the skills builder framework on essential skills development through rowing and learning how the skills apply in the workplace through workshops with our corporate partners.‍

These are two of our many programmes that we run and support at LYR, all of which focus on delivering our vision of breaking down barriers and building diversity, inclusivity and equality.

Children's Hospice South West
They provide hospice care for children and young people living with life-limiting conditions and their whole family. Hospice breaks, emergency care, palliative care and end of life care at 3 wonderful children's hospices.
