Sunnyside Quartet are raising money for Tatwa-Maahe Educational Trust
This concert is to raise funds for the Tatwa Maahe Educational Trust, which supports girls’ education in Kuria, a remote rural area of Kenya. The Trust provides bursaries for secondary school fees so that girls can complete their secondary school education, and is a collaborative venture working in partnership with local self-help groups who nominate the girls most in need.
Sally (the cellist) is a trustee of the charity, which was set up by her father, Malcolm Ruel, and a colleague, both of whom were anthropologists working in Kuria. They believed that educating girls has a transformational value that goes beyond the education of an individual.
TMET is run by volunteers so 98% of donations will go to Kenya.
To find out more about Tatwa Maahe, have a look at the TMET website at tmetafrica.org.
Enjoy the concert!
