Supporting SNUG

Hi everyone,

As some of you are aware, my son Chase was born at 25 weeks Gestation, meaning he was born before we made it to the third trimester - this has undoubtedly left Chase with some long term issues that have, and will impact his childhood.  However, he is now 14 months old and is one of the coolest, funniest, loving and sociable people I have the absolute honour of calling mine.

My partner supported another charity that was there for Chase, Cots for Tots in Bristol who accommodated us and allowed us to be near Chase for the first month of his journey.

And continuing this support, I want to show my gratitude, and my love for this team, and the families I am grateful to call my friends. SNUG or, Supporting Neonate users and Graduates is a local Devon based Charity who have volunteers stationed near two prominent hospitals who support babies in neonatal care.  Whether they were born premature like Chase, or like his older brother who was term but had a life threatening condition. 

They offer a support network and a lifeline for people like me - who put myself in a position where I was alone on my journey.  To be more confident and open about the difficulties my journey entailed with Chase.  They were facilitated by other parents of babies who've needed additional support in hospital so I know what they represent.  They provide Weekley groups with activities and refreshments for parents of NICU babies up until 18 months old (corrected), signpost to approproate services and bring in specialists to support us on our journey.

On the 15th of June they will be hosting a fancy dress parade, by the lovely quayside. With a raffle that has over 70 prizes to be won, Street Heats the samba band, face painting, food and more!  I've also got some raffle tickets, which are £1 per entry which include prizes like free family photoshoots, hotel stays, and more! I will also be doing the walk with Chase and hopefully be dressed up too!
