Zoom Ergos City of Liverpool Paddling Partners

Event date: 3rd March 2023

Judith Packer & Zoom Ergos #RTT23 Crew is raising money for LYR and British Rowing Charitable Foundation

My story

Zoom Ergos City of Liverpool Paddling Partners
We are raising funds to help young people in the City of Liverpool enjoy the freedom of rowing on water, build confidence and discover a spirit of teamwork that we know Rowing has given us. Funds will go towards rowing coaching training, so that skills can be taught safely and equipment including sculling blades suitable for juniors to help them progress from indoor rowing and actually row out on the water.
We are a virtual group of experienced women rowers located all around the country who were brought together during Race the Thames 2022 when we supported boatofhope.com. The real 'City of Liverpool' is currently crossing the Atlantic with solo rower who you can track taliskerwhiskyatlanticchallenge.com/ and is due to finish in the Spring.
We regularly row on the Ergo on **zoomergos.com/**which is free and open to all. We will be continuing our fundraising challenge during February with our **'Row The Mersey : Source to Sea' **on Thursday evenings so do join us sometime.
Help us get Liverpool Rowing and transform lives!

Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto LYR and British Rowing Charitable Foundation.

Getting Ready for Day 6 Wed 1st Feb 'Virtual Atlantic Row' 7.30am on zoomergos.com.
This is why we (complete with puppy and guide dogs) are lobbying our friends for funds!
Let's face it, 'Ergoing' on your own is not always much fun but what Race The Thames shows is with teamwork & motivation, folk pull out the stops - my crew has been truely unstoppable! As the only women's crew 'rowing' the 346km distance, our virtual team of women rowers from age 35 to 75 yrs is proving that rowing truely is an intergenerational sport perfect for women & girls as much as for men. If that wasn't enough, we have proved it is a super-inclusive event - one blind sculler, one PR2 ie upper body only rowing, and each of us with our own varied lives and back stories.
So...three cheers to the 3 Mossbourne Academy girls crews who whizzed along the 72km course - apparantly making quick work of the changeovers! Surely ones to watch for future years.
Maybe RTT 2024 will have more women and girls crews enter - knowing the watery ceiling has been well and truely smashed!
Watch out for our zoomergos.com 8th March International Women's Day Special!

Day 5: Tuesday 31st Jan: What a way to wakeup! Had to raise the fundraising target!
Thanks to so many donations - however big or small they ALL are going to make a huge difference to young people - helping them try rowing and all the different skills and behaviours it brings with it.
If anyone has been joining the Row31 Daily Nudge for the Ergo hosted by British Rowing, they will know Tues am is the LIVE one. Well, there was no other way I would have got to rating 28 on the ergo without joining in! The 10 x 1min were just what i needed to start the day! So motivating to see so many people join - what a way to start the day!
Happy Paddling and feel free to join any of our zoomergos.com sessions and help us reach the finish line!

Day 4: Monday 30th Jan: WHAT A DAY!
We find we are the only all women crew actually rowing the full 346km course. The other crew from Gresham House are enjoying the river by walking - we think we have it relatively easy! Good ladies!
Wonderful donations have really helped motivate us: having started the day at Runnymede, we enjoyed a gentle morning paddle past Staines, Weybridge, Molesey, Hampton Court into Teddington Lock where we joined the Tidal section. Some long ergos sped us along the famous Championship Boat Race Course (in reverse) through London and now imagine we are enjoying the night lights from the London Eye!
Tuesday 31st we have just 88km to go so our Wednesday 1st Feb 7.30am zoomergo.com may well be our victory row!. Our session on Thurs 2nd we will be encouraging our friends from Mersey Rowing Club at 5pm-6pm.
Do join to say hello if you wish!

Thanks to all our very generous donors, we have sped past our original fundraising target and set our sights a little higher - thank you for all your amazing support.
Some of us have been ut on the water, some paddling through the km which has taken us to Oxford where it looks like we will settle overnight - tomorrow we paddle on through Wallingford and on to Dorney Lake for a virtual breakfast!
Thanks again for all your support - it is already making a huge difference. We hope to share some photos during the week!
