About us
About us
As the charity of Leeds Teaching Hospitals, we provide support for eight areas which include Leeds General Infirmary, Leeds Children’s Hospital, Leeds Cancer Centre, St James’s University Hospital, Chapel Allerton Hospital, Seacroft Hospital, Wharfdale Hospital and Leeds Dental Institute.
We support NHS staff to deliver the best care for over a million patients and their families each year. Working with local communities, schools and businesses across the city and beyond, each year we provide £5 million in additional funding for Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust.
Including building a specialist Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Care Centre in Leeds, to give people living with MND the best quality of life. With your help, we can build a state-of-the-art MND Care Centre, to give people with MND and their families the best possible care and support.
Through generous donations we have funded life saving equipment, research fellowships, state-of-the-art technology and improvements to the patient environment. Every penny donated to Leeds Hospitals Charity helps to support the hard-working staff at our hospitals and enhance the experience of patients and their families.
What's Your Mountain?
Hello, my name is Ian, I live in beautiful North Yorkshire with my wife Rachael, two wonderful daughters and our spaniel Nealla. I was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in March 2019.
Despite this devastating news and with the critical help and fantastic care provided by the specialist MND Team in Leeds, my family has maintained its sense of fun, our sense of mischief and our wonderful ability to laugh with each other. We are now over 4 years further on and whilst my mobility, dexterity and respiratory functions are failing, my sense of humour, my sense of adventure and my desire to be childish and irresponsible remains intact. The emotional, physical and practical support provided by the amazing MND Team lead by Dr Jung is nothing short of inspiring and incredibly humbling. They have been with us every step of the way and have helped us overcome every obstacle with their compassion, expertise and kindness.
We will be raising funds to support the Leeds Hospitals Charity Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease Appeal. This state-of-the-art MND Care Centre has become a beacon of hope for those living with or affected by MND, it will without doubt give people with MND and their families the best possible care and support.
And this is where you come in, we really need your help. We would be incredibly grateful for each and every donation to help us raise much needed funds for this dedicated centre which will provide respite, research, resources and overall a sense of hope for the MND community and for the exceptional and extraordinary people who look after us, who were there at the beginning of our journey and I know will be there at the end.
“We all have our mountains to climb, it’s so much easier when we do it together”
Thank you,
Ian and Rachael xx
