Description:
Heba is well known and loved in the community as a hub where isolated and disadvantaged women can come to learn skills, meet new people and increase self esteem. Heba is a holistic service that supports women into training and employment and helps integration into UK society.
Research carried out in partnership with the Women's Resource Centre and the new economics foundation identified key outcomes as including:
- Increased employability and economic savings
- Reduced isolation and increased social well-being
- Improved future opportunities for service users' children
- Reduced long-term usage of state services.
The research was carried out from 2009 to 2011 and found that Heba is an extremely worthwhile investment, with £11 of value generated for every £1 invested in Heba. A huge amount of this value is generated through the impact Heba has on the lives of children of the women we work with.
A copy of the full report, Hidden Value, which covers five fantastic women's organisations pan-London, is available here: http://www.wrc.org.uk/includes/documents/cm_docs/2011/h/hidden_value_wrc_sroi_report_2011_2.pdf
Heba and Poetry in Wood are part of the SSBA Community Trust. Heba supports women building their lives in the UK. Poetry in Wood teaches woodworking and other skills to people with learning difficulties. The Trust also provides development support to small community projects.
