BSU Hockey 5K Charity Run

18 of our team members are taking on the Exeter 5K inflatable run all in aid of two very special charities!!

As a team, we wanted to choose two charities that were meaningful and important to us all personally!

With the mothers of two team members within the society having recently fought and still fighting breast cancer and many others close to us tackling this illness, the cause is very close to all our hearts. As a result we decided that we would support a local charity, Bath Cancer Unit Support Group. This is a small charity that raises money to purchase equipment and provide facilities and services unable to be funded by the NHS to benefit cancer patients at the Royal United Hospital, Bath.

With more and more people affected by mental health and there being a distinct lack of infrastructure, around treatment and prevention, this is another cause extremely close to the society. With some of our team and many of our friends and family struggling with mental health related issues we wanted to put our support behind Bath Mind. The Bath Safe Space Peer-support Group is for young people (aged 16-25) to connect and have discussions about their mental health and wellbeing in a safe, supportive place. This is all facilitated by Bath Mind staff and volunteers.

Although we may be the ones running this 5K we can’t support these charities in the way we would like without your generosity!
