Raising money for Education Saves Lives
Christmas fundraiser 2021
Event dates: 30th November 2021 – 6th January 2022
"Corona” is everywhere, but it is not the only problem
The COVID pandemic has reached every part of the world. It’s had a huge impact on millions of lives. Yet for most of the world’s population, “corona” is just one more challenge, on top of the many they face every day. With resources diverted to tackle COVID-19, deaths and serious illness from malaria, TB, heart disease, diabetes, diarrhoeal disease are all likely to have increased this year. The impact of paused immunisation programmes will be felt for years to come.
It is no coincidence that this year Education Saves Lives has sent out more health education DVDs than ever before. By mid-November, we’d sent more than 16,000 discs to partners all over the world, reaching 32 million people. Our lessons help people to know how they can avoid malaria; to make informed decisions about vaccination; to understand why cigarettes and alcohol can be addictive; what action you can take if your blood pressure is too high. All of these lessons are crucial in countries where medical care can be costly, if it is available at all. Families simply cannot afford to get sick.
So this Christmas, we’re simply asking our supporters and friends, old and new, to donate so that we can reach even more families in 2022.
Your donations last year have helped us to update our recent lesson about Coronavirus, to begin the process of reviewing all our existing lessons, and crucially to provide more resources than ever before to vulnerable communities. In 2022 we want to send out more DVDs, we hope to scale up the use of the new flash drive lesson that can help reach new groups, and we also want to invest in large scale distribution working with partners in key areas.
Your gift really will save hundreds of lives.
