Climbing 22 Munros in '22 for AdoptionUK

Event dates: 6th January 2022 – 31st December 2022

My story

A Munro is a mountain in Scotland over 3000ft (914.4m).

I'm going to try and climb 22 of them in 2022 as part of AdoptionUK's 22 in 22 campaign. I'll give regular updates when I can and anyone who'd like to join me on a day out please let me know!

AdoptionUK enables people whose lives involve adoption to access the connections, support and influence they need and deserve. Funds raised will help this vitally important work for a frequently overlooked and misunderstood community.

Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto Adoption UK.

Sgiath Chúil from Glen Lochay. A Birthday adventure ticking one of the final Glen Lochay hills. A lovely walk in splendid isolation until the Summit was in reach and enough people seemed to congregate for a party to be had! Good banter though and spectacular views across to familiar peaks packed with stories and memories.

Hill 8 of 22. 780m climbed

Beinn Chabhir from A82. 24/05/22

A day dodging showers for the final Munro of the Crianlarich group. An 'interesting' ascent when the path was lost and we decided to head for the ridge a little too early. Plotting a route through the many crags was interesting and meant the day was longer than planned. Sore feet, dodgy knees and the final hours downpour heading off the hill still didn't spoil a great day.

Stob Dearg - Big Buchel from Glen Etive

Another fabulous days weather for an unconventional and much quieter ascent of the 'Big Herdsman' of Glencoe. Stunning views climbing out of Glen Etive and didn't see a soul until on the summit ridge. Brief moments of exposure I wasn't prepared for on the way to the summit and Best Wishes to the casualty we saw airlifted from the hill. A sobering reminder of the dangers even when the weather is glorious.

Glas Bheinn Mhór on 23rd April 2022.

A great day to be out in the hills. Lovely weather (almost too good) and great company for a wander around the Glen Etive hills near Ben Starav. Sore feet curtailed the ambition but still managed to bag one hill and got a good view of the controversial Glen Etive Hydro schemes.

A glorious (but bitterly cold) day close to Dalwhinnie in the Southern Cairngorms. Two more hills added to the total. Carn na Caim and A'Bhuidheanach Bheag. Straightforward ascent and some fun crossing the plateau between the summits...and also some horribly slushy going on thawing snowpack too.

812m ascent. Munro 3+4 of 22.
