John Farmer is raising money for The Lord's Taverners
My story
I am running the 2022 London Marathon on behalf of my close friend James Bedingfield, who took his own life. There are no words to describe the sadness we felt afterwards.
For those who did not know James, he was a lot of fun to be around. A huge sports fan, a notorious orderer of shots and cocktails at the bar, and a good friend. James was very driven and successful in his career. James was a family man with two amazing children and a wonderful partner. James was also a supreme fundraiser.
During James' lifetime, he raised a staggering amount of money for charities, including the Lord's Taverners, Sheffield Children's Hospital and the Sheffield Family Holiday Fund. This was mainly through bike rides and charity balls. James raised, in total, over £800,000. That’s not a misprint, it was a towering achievement. A number of us are now determined to get this over the £1,000,000 mark in his memory. I can barely ride a bike, so running looks like my best option.
I am raising money for the Lord's Taverners, which is the UK's leading youth cricket and disability sports charity and was close to James’ heart and mine. Both James and I shared a passion for cricket, as players and spectators. Please help me to raise my target of £2,100. Any amount will be gratefully received and will help continue James' remarkable fundraising legacy.
Thank you,
John”
