London to Brighton bike ride

This challenge is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, and when I impulsively decided this was the year, (thanks Sophie), I knew there was only one charity I wanted to raise money for.

Debra is the charity for those that suffer with Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) - I am one of the 5000 people in the UK living with the condition. I showed symptoms as a baby but didn’t receive a diagnosis until I was 11. As someone living with EB, I know firsthand the daily challenges living with it brings. Even training for this challenge has been difficult - the handlebars give me blisters on my hands and my skin blisters and splits from the friction - but cycling is one activity that causes the least damage to my skin overall. 

Epidermolysis bullosa (EB), or ‘butterfly skin’, is a rare genetic condition that makes skin so fragile it blisters or tears from the slightest touch. It causes constant pain, open wounds, and unbearable itching. Right now, there’s no cure.
But with your support, there is hope.
Your donation will help fund vital clinical trials to find effective treatments for every type of EB. You’ll also help provide life-changing care and support to families affected by EB - making everyday life a little more manageable.
Together, we can bring comfort, hope, and a future with better treatments.

Every mile I cycle will be hard work but I’m so determined to reach the finish line - even if it is whilst ugly crying.
